My husband has many Back Problems and about a week ago he fell and had no strength in his legs?
He fell again a few days ago as his legs just cant hold him up. He’s in physical therapy to strengthen his muscles. One thing leads to another. I want him to go to the spine institute or a teaching hospital – one dr here mentioned surgery – another said abolutely not. He’s always been such an active man and now everything has been taken away from him. He said if he agrees to surgery it might even be worse. He’s very careful not to fall and uses a cane or walker. These golden years certainly are not golden. Anyone else have severe back problems and any advice for me?
If he has new onset of falling and the legs “giving out” on him, I would bring this to the attention of the surgeon as this could be the sign of myelopathy…this would require urgent action.
My dad is in a similar situation and he was just referred for a thorasic MRI (he’s already had the lumbar and cervical).
